Thinking of fairy tales, we might conjure up images of “Alice in Wonderland”, our family, our friends, nature, love, and the shapes of clouds and wishing stars. In this mini-workshop, we take the time to capture the magic of that fairy tale. We will be using found objects, toys, books, flowers, string, butterflies, photographs and anything that makes your heart sing to create a still life painting or paintings that tells the story of our dreams and lives. Students may work from still life arranged by the teacher or create their own personal story. We will discuss Victorian flower symbolism, magical thinking, dream interpretation, and contemporary design. Included in the class the teacher will make one on one time for each student, focus on color mixtures, and creating realistic effects with light and shadow, a focus on using photography, and fine tuning edges.
