During this six-week session, we’ll explore two exciting, non-traditional watercolor techniques:

1. Watercolor on colored paper (2 weeks): Working with your own watercolor pigments, sometimes blending them with opaque white for light values atop mid-value papers, you’ll learn a refreshing new approach to watercolor, while gaining new insights into ways of unifying a composition, and developing new approaches to form, value, and color.

2. Oriental Watercolor Techniques (4 weeks): Break loose from the planning and control which characterize traditional watercolor! Your introduction to Oriental watercolor will bring you (as it has to me) astonishing creative release. You’ll revel in form and color with much less regard to literal, preconceived imagery. I promise you an emotional, rather than intellectual approach to the medium, while still offering representational fulfillment to the degree you desire.

Materials particular to these techniques will be furnished by the instructor.

He served as Founding North American Editor of International Artist Magazine.
