The purpose of this class is to explore the glazing method of oil painting. We will discuss a variety of different additives and recipes for creating oil paintings built from many thin layers of paint, a process known as “Glazing.” We will learn the secrets of bringing “inner light” into paintings through the glazing techniques used by both the Old Masters and by contemporary realists. Painting from reference photos, we will learn how this process can add a unique and distinctive look to all types of subject matter and all varieties of painting styles. This class is tailored to students who wish to add the classic look of oil glazing to their “toolbox” of painting techniques.
