Diane invites you to come join her for four full days of challenging watercolor. The class will spend one full-day each week in an intense painting time. In Diane’s fun and expressive teaching style, she will demonstrate for the class how to plan, design and execute extraordinary paintings. She will explain how to use the different temperatures and values of pigment to create vibrant color and well designed paintings. She will challenge the class to reach out and incorporate these new ideas of design, color and techniques in their paintings. Diane will spend time with each student making sure they understand all facets of this watercolor challenge and will continually help the students with the execution of their own paintings. Bring a lunch for four full days of watercolor.

- The following is a list of supplies that I recommend, but do not feel it is necessary to duplicate the list exactly. Bring the supplies that you are familiar with using.
- SKETCHBOOK: At least 8 1/2 x 11. The sketchbook will be used for sketching (of course), doing value studies and taking notes. A full sketchbook is useful.
- PENCILS: #5B or #6B (for doing a small amount of drawing on the painting paper), and pencils or pens for sketching. Please NO #2 writing pencil for drawing and sketching!
- BOARD: A board on which to attach your paper while painting. Also bring tape, push pins or clips for holding your paper. I do not stretch paper, however if you prefer stretched paper, have it
- prepared when you come to class.
- PAPER TOWELS: Kleenex, rags, terry towel, paper towels or what you like for wiping.
- SPONGES: (Natural ones are best.) A large one for washing large areas and a small one for small areas. I also use a 3 x 5 cellulose sponge (kitchen sponge) for keeping my palette wet and controlling the wetness on my brush.
- WATER CONTAINERS (2): One for clean water, one for dirty water. They should hold at least a quart of water each and PLEASE NO GLASS!!!!!!!!
- PALETTE: Bring old faithful. I use a Pike Palette. I believe a cover palette is best.
- HAIR DRYER: For quickly drying your painting. I seldom use a dyer, but it great when needed.
- PAPER: I use D-Arches 140# cold press - half sheets. Have one half sheet for each day, but always have an extra. You may want to work full sheet which is O.K.
- "DONKEY WORK PAPER": The backs of old paintings or cheap paper - have several.
- New Item - WASH OUT TAPE – can be purchased from most art supply catalogues. This a special tape formulated to safely put over dry watercolor pigments, cut out sections of the tape for lifting
- out pigments for corrections. You will learn to LOVE this item.
