Drawing for Beginners
Class-Summer | This program has been canceled
"Have you ever wanted to be able to draw? ""Being a good draftsman"" means being able to accurately reproduce what you see onto paper. This is a technical facility which can be learned with practice and attention. Being a good draftsman is a vitally important skill for a representational artist.
We'll explore several ways to draw in this four-week class and introduce several important concepts, including: how to use basic drawing tools; contour, light and shadow and the illusion of 3 dimensionality; copying drawings ""from the flat"";
drawing from 3-dimensional simple geometric shapes (cube, cylinder, sphere etc) using a single light source; drawing a still life;
drawing people, including the basics of drawing the human head, or drawing the figure.
We will use graphite and drawing paper in this class. The focus will be on developing each student's skills, although I will occasionally demonstrate.
