In this 2 day workshop, we will walk through what it takes to make an eye-catching hero and a villainous antagonist for a visual narrative. The first part of class will cover story elements, looking at popular media, anime, and games and how they translate that visually. We will also cover pose, gesture, design, and color on the second day. Students will walk away with at least two characters to use in any world they want to create!

  • EITHER: DIGITAL art (this must include a software the student is comfortable using prior to class and a drawing tablet)

    OR: Traditional tools:
    -Paper/sketchbook (ideally 8x11.5 or bigger.)
    -pencils HB, 2B (mechanical and wood)
    -erasers
    -whiteout or white gouache
    -inking tools (recommended: tombow fudenosuke brush pen & sakura micron .5 and .1; whatever student is most comfortable using also OK)
    -color tools optional, recommended: copics, color pencils, or watercolor
