Learn how to draw the figure with greater accuracy and efficiency, to transform this complex subject into strong forms, incisive line, and simplified areas of dark and light. You gain confidence and skill practicing how to rapidly grasp and set down the essentials, while doing away with fussiness and extraneous detail. We will be working with the high contrast mixed media of charcoal and white chalk on brown paper, moving from a review of drawing basics, to practice with the nude figure, to multiple sketches and several finished pieces of male and female models posed in inspiring interior set ups. Specific areas of study will be the head and face, drapery and clothing, the key use of outlines and hard vs soft edges, and the creation of texture, atmosphere, and space in your drawing.

  • *NOTE: There is a $20 Materials Fee payable to the Instructor to help cover the cost of props, costumes, and other costs not reimbursed by Gage, plus additional materials bought in bulk to keep student costs down (Note - this is in addition to the materials on the Gage website Supply List which are the students’ responsibility).
