6-8 sheets white sketch paper 18”x24" (or 8-10 sheets 11”x17”),
80 or 90 lb, appropriate for pastel - (2 good examples are Seth Cole
Sketch Vellum, or Borden and Reilley Sketch Vellum #116)
2 sheets Arches cold press, 90 lb., watercolor paper or equivalent,
approx. 18"x24"
1 sheet UART Sanded Pastel Paper, 18”x24”, 600 Grit (or 500 Grit if they
do not have the 600 Grit)

PAINTS AND BRUSHES
1 box PRANG watercolors - 16 colors Oval (this is a cheap simple set
for children but has good depth of color)
1 cheap watercolor brush about ½"" square, or as thick as your middle finger
if round - just to get the rich color on, not for detail-we will use the pastel
for that! (Instructor will also have used brushes available for student use)
Optional - if you already have, or want a better brush, bring one square and one
round watercolor or acrylic brush # 6 or #8 in size
MISCELLANEOUS
1 kneaded eraser
1 old toothbrush (VERY important)
1 rag
Optional: 1 can Degas Casein Workable Matte Fixative
1-2 metal bulldog clips
1 roll 3/4" or 1” white artists tape
