In this weekend workshop, explore the rich, textured medium of oil pastel through the still life genre. Practice fundamental drawing techniques to capture accurate proportions, build dynamic compositions, and explore value, light and color temperature through observation. Learn to blend and mix oil pastel, build up layers to match colors and create volume, and employ color theory concepts for harmonious color compositions.

  • Material Supplies Needed:

    • -  Sketchbook (9x12” or larger)

    • -  Toned Tan or Toned Gray Paper (11x14”)

    • -  Oil Pastel Set (at least 16 colors or more)

    • -  Graphite Pencils (2B, 4B, 6B)

    • -  Kneaded Eraser

    • -  Hand-held pencil sharpener

    • -  2 L-shapes pieces of cardboard and 2 binder clips to make a viewfinder
