In this course we will explore the concept and technical construct known as Artificial Intelligence (hereinafter referred to as AI). AI, in recent years, has generated an enormous amount of attention. However it will be shown that AI is many decades old and that it has evolved with the passage of time.  Moreover, the development of AI, both technically as well as from the standpoint of public perceptions, will be explored.

 

We will cover these topics with regard to AI: historical, technical foundations, machine readable components, and business opinions of function and efficacy.

Gilardi, Ron

Ron Gilardi, PhD has taught on a college and university level for more than twenty years. He has taught at the University of Illinois at Campaign, the University of Western Ontario in London and, most recently, at La Roche University for more than ten years. Before teaching, Dr. Gilardi practiced law for about fifteen years. He holds a BA degree from Washington & Jefferson College, a JD from the School of Law, Duquesne University and a PhD from the School of Computing and Information, University of Pittsburgh.
