With guidance, you'll learn how to set up and use a rigid heddle loom with ease. Dive into the essentials of project planning, including selecting materials and mastering basic weaving techniques such as the sturdy plain weave.

As you progress, you'll have the opportunity to apply your newfound skills by creating a variety of beginner-friendly projects. From crafting your first scarf to weaving table runners, coasters, pot holders, and rugs, each project is tailored to build your confidence and expand your abilities.

Whether you're completely new to weaving or seeking to refresh your skills, this course provides a supportive environment for you to thrive. Join us and embark on an exciting journey into the world of weaving, where you'll unlock your creativity and create beautiful pieces to cherish.



You will need to purchase your own loom for this class. Details will be sent out after registration but the cost is approximately $80. 

Maura Edwards is an alumna of La Roche University, where she obtained her bachelor's degree in History with a special interest of British monarchs. Currently serving as the library assistant at La Roche, Maura harbors a deep passion for history, constantly seeking avenues to delve deeper into her field.

Introduced to rigid heddle weaving in November 2023 through a class at Old Economy Village, Maura quickly found herself enamored with the craft. Since then, she has fervently pursued her newfound interest, teaching herself to create an array of projects using various materials and color schemes. Her journey in weaving is marked by a continuous pursuit of knowledge, as she diligently researches new techniques and patterns to expand her repertoire.

Fueled by her passion for weaving and a desire to share her creations with others, Maura recently launched a small side business called Heddle & Yarn Co. Through this venture, she endeavors to showcase the beauty of woven projects and offer them to a wider audience.

Driven by her love for learning and a desire to inspire others, Maura is eager to embark on new adventures and share her enthusiasm for history and weaving with the world.
