How to Use AI Smartly and Ethically (Zoom)

Fall (3 to 6.5 hours) | Registration opens 8/13/2026 12:00 AM EDT

The Financial Times says, “Fear of AI is as close to a national consensus as it gets. A clear majority says that AI will do more harm than good.” Liberate AI to be personally helpful and safe. The course uses in-class exercises to ensure successful and ethical uses of AI for social, creative, professional, and self-education goals. We will use prompts in each class such as:

-Write an article for publication.

-Sharpen your personal writing style.

-Enrich your understanding of films, novels, plays.

-Design a project.

No homework, but each student must have access to a device with internet access to do in-class assignments. The course will not ask participants to reveal personal issues, but safe and ethical use for self-reflection will be explored following the advice of therapists with extensive AI experience.

This course includes in-class assignments and discussion of results.

  • There are no required books for this course.

Participants must have access to a device (such as a laptop) capable of writing and editing text and which provides online access to the free AI services that will be selected by the Study Leader.
