Hollywood Fights the War (In-person)
Fall (17 hours or more) | Available (Membership Required)
In the early years of World War II, Hollywood produced several movies that were for the most part propaganda films for the Allies but were in fact very good movies. We will look at six movies that describe different events in various theaters of the war. Each class will begin with a discussion of what was really happening where the movie is purported to take place. We will then watch the movie and then discuss the contrast, if any, between the movie and the actual history of the event.
This course will combine some lecture, discussion, and viewing of movies.
