Recently, I read on Facebook: The last model car I built was when I was 16 years old. Now I’m retired I’m thinking of starting up again. What do I need to know?

This beginner-friendly course will explore the enjoyable hobby of 1/24 scale plastic model car building, although the techniques are applicable to model airplanes and boats. Attendees well select the model they want to build and will learn the basics of model assembly, painting, detailing, and finishing while working on their own kit. The course covers essential tools, safe hobby practices, gluing and sanding techniques, painting methods, decals, and final assembly. No prior experience is necessary. Emphasis will be placed on patience, creativity, relaxation, and enjoying the process rather than perfection. Students will complete or nearly complete their model while gaining the confidence to continue the hobby independently. All instruction is hands-on, informal, and paced comfortably for beginners or advanced modelers.

This course will combine lecture with hands-on activities.
