THIS IS THE (IN-PERSON/ZOOM) REGISTRATION OPTION FOR THIS COURSE!

Metabolism is the capture of energy from nutrition for our use. This course will review the basic scientific understanding of metabolism and its relevance to health and nutrition. We will look at the biochemical and hormonal mechanisms that allow us to capture, store, and use energy. This review will lead to an examination of some popular nutritional attitudes and myths, as well as the metabolic disorders of insulin resistance, cardiovascular disease, and Type 2 diabetes. Each of the six two-hour sessions will have one hour of lecture followed by one hour of discussion using the information from the lecture as the basis for nutritional health issues.

  • There are no required books for this course.
