THIS IS THE (IN-PERSON/ZOOM) REGISTRATION OPTION FOR THIS COURSE!

One of the biggest mysteries in detective literature is the enduring interest in Sherlock Holmes. How is it possible that a Victorian-era detective transcends time, history, and technology to continue to fascinate the public? How is it that these stories can somehow be updated to modern eras and continue to be fresh and attractive? How is it that these stories can cross media and
be adapted into stories in updated settings and in multiple venues (written word, films, stage, board and electronic games and more)? In this course we will address these questions through lectures and discussion. We will also read and discuss several original Holmes stories to illustrate Conan Doyle’s possibly under-appreciated storytelling talent.

This course will combine lecture with class discussions.
