Iaido: The Art of Japanese Sword-Drawing (In-person)

Musojikiden Eishin Ryu Iaido is a school of Japanese sword-drawing with over 500 years of history. This will be a practical course, during which we will study footwork and also handling of wooden swords. There will be demonstrations by the instructor with a metal sword. The goal will be to establish some fundamental techniques and to give an idea of how this meditative sword practice can anchor and inform a good life over the course of decades.
- There are no required books for this course.
Participants will be asked to bring their own wooden sword; info to come from Study Leader regarding type and possible resources/suppliers.
Eliza Meeker
Eliza Meeker is a Doctor of Chinese Energetic Medicine (medical qigong), practicing both Chinese Energetic Medicine and Seitai (Tuina), two branches of Chinese Medicine. She is a founding member of California Qigong and also teaches qigong. Eliza is a dual-qualified American and French lawyer. She is ranked 7th dan in the Japanese National Iaido Federation, as well as 7th dan in the Japanese sword school, Musojikiden Eishin Ryu Iaido.
