A Financial Roadmap for Aging Parents and Adult Children (Zoom)

Winter (4 - 8.5 hours) | Registration opens 11/23/2026 12:00 AM EDT

This three-part online course provides practical guidance for families navigating financial caregiving and planning across generations. Learn how to start productive conversations about money with aging parents and their adult children, understand the responsibilities of serving under financial and healthcare powers of attorney, and gain strategies for accessing and organizing important financial information. The course also explores key estate planning tools, including revocable trusts, successor trustees, and incapacity planning. Participants will learn when and how to become involved in a loved one’s financial affairs, the duties of fiduciaries, and resources available to support them. Finally, we will examine asset titling, probate avoidance strategies, and beneficiary designations. Understanding how assets are owned and transferred can help prevent costly mistakes and ensure that an estate plan works as intended. Whether you are preparing to assist a parent or planning for your own future, this course offers a practical roadmap for protecting family finances and reducing stress during life’s transitions.

This online course will combine lecture with participant discussion.
