The Short Stories of Andre Dubus, Sr. (HyFlex: )
Winter (14+ hours) | Registration opens 11/23/2026 12:00 AM EDT
Andre Dubus Sr. (as opposed to his son Andre Jr., who may be better known commercially) is the author of some of the finest short stories of the 20th century – every bit the equal to those of Hemingway, Carver, Juan Luis Borges, or Flannery O'Connor. In this six-week course, we will discuss one or two of his stories per session, with an eye to their voice, relevance, universality, and emotional impact. Participants will be asked to read each story in advance and come to the session prepared to discuss their thoughts. The course is interactive, not simply instructional, so please come prepared to share your voice.
