This workshop will use still life as a means to study light, the artist’s greatest gift. Using the Russian impressionist tradition of comparing and contrasting, students will paint indoors in both warm and cool light. The emphasis will be on putting warm and cool colors next to each other in such a way that creates a sense of radiant light and harmonious color unity no matter what the subject matter is. Make colors SING! Students will spend time examining photo references for evidence of warm or cool light and 17 different light effects that happen out in the real world. Think of this workshop as the study of light... beyond the plaster cast. www.susandiehl.com
