Embrace the freedom that comes from a decisive, impasto knife application. Work wet-into-wet in either oil or acrylic (oil is preferred). Students will plan, design, sketch and complete at least two or more compositions in the workshop. This class will focus on the reinforcement of traditional fundamentals including color theory, values, temperature management, large masses, focal point emphasis, simplification of detail and soft edges…all with a palette knife! No brushes allowed. Learn to identify and solve “problems” ahead of time to ensure beautiful results. This is a fun, relaxed atmosphere that will push even the most advanced artists out of their comfort zones and open a new door to passionate expressionism. Students may use their own well-composed landscape, cityscape or seascape photographs or use some provided by the instructor. Each student paints their own chosen subject matter. This is an interactive, hands-on workshop with extensive demonstration and personal feedback from the instructor. www.rpjfineart.com
