A thumbnail is a very small sketch or painting outlining the elements in a proposed painting. Thumbnail sketches are a good way to work through an idea, or to try out different compositions. Always remember, a photo can (and should) be adapted to suit you. These tiny paintings are a great source of consistent practice enabling one to
work on the principles of painting. Students need to paint miles of canvas to get better at painting. Thumbnails are a great tool to use while on one’s journey.

In this class students will work from photos supplied by the teacher. Paintings size will be no larger than 4 x 5 or
4 x 4. www.goochstudio.com
