Understanding the demands of the acrylic medium is the primary focus of this workshop. Hook will emphasize color, composition, atmospheric light, architectural elements, and an intuitive approach to painting. Students will receive individual instruction and critiques in the studio and should complete the workshop with a significant level of confidence working with acrylics. Photography as a visual source for landscape painting is an important part of the class. Photos will be provided. www.williamhook.net

Hook, William

William Hook’s 35 year career making acrylic landscape paintings is recognized by museums and notable collections worldwide and is detailed in William Cather Hook – a Retrospective. The foundation of his success was built upon 8 years of study at the Kansas City Art Institute, the University of New Mexico (BFA) and post graduate studies at the Los Angeles Art Center College of Design. The artwork created in his studios in Santa Fe, NM and Carmel, CA is represented by the Meyer Gallery (Santa Fe, NM), the Parsons Gallery (Taos, NM) and James J. Rieser Fine Art (Carmel, CA).
