The dynamic power of composition and color will be the beginning of this adventure. Working from photos, students will look for key areas including light and dark values, edges, lines and blocks of color as a warm up to composing a dynamic composition. Next comes taking those photos/sketches and painting them on “thumbnails” (small paintings or sketches on paper or canvas) where students will be experimenting with their composition and color. Moving on to decide which “thumbnail” to use as a start for their painting, students will compose the subject they decide on to begin work with their canvases or panels. Throughout this creative time, there will be demos, individual help and group or solo critiques. www.dkworman.com
