Drawing is fundamentally important to the student interested in painting portraits, nude and costumed subjects. Working from life is always preferable. Studio time will be divided equally between the practices of drawing and painting. Students will work from the model, both nude and costumed. The first half of the class will focus on figure drawing. Academic concepts of “comparative measurement”, “generalized proportions” and “tonal modeling” will addressed in lecture and practice. The remainder of the class will be devoted to painting the model both nude and costumed. The topics of design, color mixing, color temperature and paint application will be discussed. Students will paint both warm and cool lit subjects. This class is open to all levels of experience. Students will receive lots of individualized support. www.robertlemler.com
