This workshop will focus on interior “landscapes.” Working from interesting photos that capture the unique light and space of an interior, students will concentrate on the relationships of objects and light to create compositions that tell the story of the room. Time will be allocated for fast studies as well as longer painting sessions devoted to more finished paintings. The fast studies will allow students to “stay loose” with lots of energy, and the longer painting sessions will help students resolve issues and details to a more finished piece. Focus will be on composition, brushwork, values, edges and color mixing. Students should bring their own photos of rooms that are personal to them or that they find inspiring – emphasis should be on interesting light, color or space. Photos can be of the interiors of homes, restaurants, museums...whatever space feels exciting to the student. www.juleehutchison.com
