Award-winning artist, Rob Adamson, will teach this four-day workshop. This workshop will provide students the painting fundamentals needed to create stunning, vibrant cityscapes. Students will work from photo reference (provided by instructor, but are also welcome to bring their own cityscape reference) to paint day and night city scenes. Students will be taught a simplified 1 and 2-point perspective to create memorable paintings. Other topics covered are design, drawing, value, color, edges, and lighting and glazing techniques. The instructor will provide lectures, demonstrations and individual instruction. Beginners through advanced artists are welcome.

Adamson, Rob

Rob Adamson grew up in Bountiful, Utah. He earned a BFA in painting and drawing from the University of Utah in 1992, and an MFA in painting and drawing from Brigham Young University in 2007. Rob is a life-long learner as he has also studied with Jeffrey Hein, Matt Smith, Lori Putnam, Don Demers, Mitch Baird and others. He paints gallery and commission work in his studio located near his home in East Millcreek, Utah. Rob is known for his daytime and nocturne cityscapes. He also paints plein air landscapes and portraits. Since 1994, Rob has enjoyed teaching at the Salt Lake Community College in the Visual Art and Design Department. He teaches classes in drawing, painting, life drawing, plein-air landscape, portrait painting and design. Rob is a member of the Plein-Air Painters of Utah, Oil Painters of America and American Impressionist Society. He has won numerous awards participating in many shows throughout the United States. Rob enjoys performing as the percussionist for his family band accompanying his children, Zac on the piano and Sarah Ann on the violin.
