Hedi Moran’s class will focus on the process of creating impressionistic floral still-life. Emphasis will be on basic concepts of composition, and the importance of transparent color lay-in. Effective use of light and temperature to create vivid and lively oil paintings will also be covered, along with how to use soft and hard edges in and around the focal point. The painting process begins with laying in rough shapes (not objects) with initial colors. Refining the painting starts in the focal area and moves outward from there, with the paint getting thicker, edges sharper and color contrasts strengthened. The entire painting is worked at the same time, so that all elements come together simultaneously. www.hedimoranfineart.com
