This anatomy class is a must for all artists, 2D and 3D, working in any medium. Simon covers each body part, not medical dissection, but conceptually, toward an understanding of movement and form for the needs of the artist: how a joint moves, how far you can “push” it for expressions’ sake, and when you will “break” it. This workshop is an intense class with Simon illustrating the concepts as he moves through the body parts. It will empower students’ drawing and will increase their understanding and freedom to manipulate the figure in space. Students will create an anatomy textbook of their own, forever a useful resource. The workshop will reinforce the understanding and use of anatomy in the future work of each student. Simon will show students how to be happy with the way they draw. Students can use pencil, chalk, charcoal, brush, stick, or anything that leaves a mark on paper.
