ONLINE | WEEKLY | Tuesdays | On Zoom and Facebook
Sep 28th, Oct 5th and 12th
10AM-1PM Mountain Standard Time (Arizona Time)

Join Kathy as she explains her thinking when she begins a floral painting:
-Why does she choose what she chooses
-How important the block-in is
-How important drawing skills are to allow you the freedom to have fun!
The workshop will have a private Facebook group as its' classroom. Class will meet once a week for three weeks with a 3 hour Zoom session
with painting demos and lectures. Kathy will post a prerecorded demo the day before the class where she will explain her process, everyone
is encouraged to watch before the first class.
During the workshop, there will be two Zoom windows for you to select from, one with Kathy and her easel and one on her palette as she
mixes color.

Week 1 - Kathy will demo, present a slide show, go over her palette, and do a brief brush cleaning demo. Homework will be assigned and
critiqued by Kathy at the end of week 1, before the next class.
Weeks 2 & 3 - Kathy will do short demos from live flowers with emphasis on clean color, color in the shadows, and creating depth with your background.
The students will paint if they wish and post their paintings to the Facebook page for critique and discussions.

Anderson, Kathy

.

Kathy Anderson is best known for her unique interpretation of flowers and gardens, and intimate scenes of landscape.  Working in oils and painting mostly from life, her focus is on a strong design and movement in the painting, keeping the subject as naturally as you would find it.   Her style is representational, but goes a step further into reality, often depicting weeds in the garden, flowers past their prime, etc.

Kathy is included in many prestigious private collections, is a master signature member of Oil Painters of America, an artist member of the Salmagundi Club NY, and is in the permanent collection of the National Arts Club, NYC.  She teaches workshops in the US and abroad and has three popular videos.

She was lucky to be able to call as personal friends two of our greatest contemporary artists– Richard Schmid and Everett Raymond Kinstler, both sadly deceased.  She has spent countless years with each of them, soaking up their wisdom and life stories.

“I see paintings everywhere- every flower, rock, tree, dapple of light, sparkling waterfall –there’s no end to subject matter for an artist when your eyes are always open.”
