WEEKLY ONLINE | 10AM-1PM Mountain Standard Time (Arizona Time) Artists and authors have been illustrating their correspondence for centuries. Beatrix Potter sprinkled her letters with bunnies in the garden, Saint Exupery drew stars, Picasso, Victor Hugo, Gaugin, Corot and Van Gogh all combined words and pictures when writing to friends—just to name a few. Of course, these artists and authors didn’t have access to email or texts (thank goodness!) And although we do, I think it might be time for a “Slow Letter” movement, much like Slow Food, where we take the time and make the effort to communicate in a more creative, personal way. Join me as we explore this old idea and make it work for us in todays high tech world, with words and pictures of our own. All skill levels welcome!

Barton, Jane

After twenty-five years as a nationally recognized graphic designer, illustrator and portrait artist, Jane Barton’s paintings pay tribute to the best designer of them all, Nature, with images of vast landscapes, colorful figures and intimate still lifes. Originally from Chicago, where she studied at the American Academy of Art, Jane holds a B.A. from Boston University and an M.A. from Syracuse University. Jane is the recipient of many national design awards and her work can be found in corporate and private collections. An avid world traveler, she never leaves home without her sketchbook!
