Artists and authors have been illustrating their correspondence for centuries. Beatrix Potter sprinkled her letters with bunnies in the garden, Saint Exupery drew stars, Picasso, Victor Hugo, Gaugin, Corot and Van Gogh all combined words and pictures when writing to friends—just to name a few. Of course, these artists and authors didn’t have access to email or texts (thank goodness!) And although we do, I think it might be time for a “Slow Letter” movement, much like Slow Food, where we take the time and make the effort to communicate in a more creative, personal way. Join me as we explore this old idea and make it work for us in todays high tech world, with words and pictures of our own. All skill levels welcome!
