YES!
We will be doing this again!! I've met with the THE BEARDSLEY ZOO and they can't wait. They are celebrating their 100thAnniversary this year! I chose the cooler months since they are better for animal activity. We will be sending out a survey on potential animals but I've already got a couple of good subjects in mind. Stay tuned.

Have you considered wildlife painting? Come join us for a unique experience. Johanne has designed a workshop centered around a LIVE stream from the Beardsley Zoo in CT. Along with the live animal demonstrations we will have access to high resolution photographs by the Zoo's official photographer.

Does all that fur confuse you? Do your paintings fall short of lifelike? Wondering how to make your subject alive? Want to learn better brush handling? Afraid you haven't the drawing skills to tackle this subject? If you answered yes to one or more of those questions then this workshop is for you! We will explore all of that and more. Johanne guarantees you will end up much braver than you imagined possible.

Mangi, Johanne

I paint a variety of subjects but clearly my passion is of the canine variety. I look to my own furry herd of 6 for inspiration and life drawing. I selectively exhibit as I am very active with my commission work of canine and wildlife portraits. The majority of my clients have been, interestingly enough, fellow artists. I have been very fortunate in receiving recognition for my portrait work and have been asked to exhibit at the National Arts Club and Portraits, Inc. in NYC as well as other venues. I give workshops with the unique feature of having live animals present. I believe that this is an extremely important element for keeping the paintings fresh and alive. To capture this process I have partnered with the Publisher of the magazines, Fine Art Connoisseur and Plein Air Magazines, to produce a DVD featuring canines. It has recently been released to an overwhelming response! I am thrilled to have been invited by Nancy Guzik and Richard Schmid to be part of the prestigious Putney Painters in VT. This group has provided a basis of excellence and raised the bar for me the past 10 years. I have been honored to watch and paint with Mr. Schmid as well as his intimate group of fabulous painters. I also have my own group, The Third Floor Painters, which, oddly enough, meet in The Third Floor Studio! This group was formed to create an environment where like minded artists could share their expertise while working with live models. My art education has been self directed working and studying with Kathy Anderson, Scott Burdick, Michelle Dunaway, Daniel J. Keys, Christine Lafuente, Sue Lyon, and Colley Whisson of Australia. In addition, I have hosted workshops with David Shevlino, Charlie Hunter and Stanley Bielen. I have studied extensively with Sherrie McGraw (drawing and painting) and consider her a valued mentor. Words cannot express my gratitude to her. Other affiliations past and present: Salmagundi Club NY Oil Painters of America Brush & Pale
