Participants in this dynamic workshop will have the opportunity of working with and learning from celebrated landscape painter and teacher David Dibble.

Through studies and visual exercises artists will get out of their routine and see new possibilities in color, value, and ‘keying’ a painting, including value and color modulation. David believes strongly in getting beyond the traditional 'watch while I paint' workshop model, and instead creates an experience where artists can learn new ways of studying and creating which can then be taken back into their individual studios and applied in ways that are both personal and transformative.

Dibble, David

Born in 1977, David Dibble was raised on a farm in Davis County, Utah, where he was influenced by the landscape from an early age. He completed a BFA in Illustration from Brigham Young University and began landscape painting in earnest in graduate school at the Academy of Art University. Following the Academy he and his wife Liz moved to New York, where he worked as a color artist for Blue Sky Studios (20th Century Fox), creating Concept Design for such films as Rio, Epic, Ice Age 4, Peanuts, and Ferdinand. David and his family now reside in Orem, Utah, where he teaches Illustration at Brigham Young University and paints often in the surrounding mountains and valleys, focusing largely on agricultural themes. “Having grown up on a farm in Utah, the landscape of the West is deeply ingrained in my soul, particularly the agricultural heritage. Mountains and barns seem to be what I constantly come back to for inspiration. Seeing the loss of so much farmland in the West and the struggles that remaining farmers face, I want to celebrate that legacy and help others see the nobility in it.” www.dibbleart.com Instagram: @dibbleart facebook.com/dibbleart REPRESENTATION: Mockingbird Gallery, Bend OR EDUCATION •BFA, Brigham Young University (’03) •MFA, Academy of Art University (’08) SELECTED EXHIBITIONS •Small Works Group Show, Maxwell Alexander Gallery, 2019 •Two-man show: New Works, David Dibble and John Taft, Mockingbird Gallery, May 2019 •Things We’ve Handed Down, solo show, Trailside Gallery, WY, 2018 •Beyond Structure, group show, Brigham Young University, Idaho, 2017 SELECTED PRESS •Southwest Art, Artists to Watch, May 2017 •American Art Collector, Artist Focus, 2016 AWARDS •First Place, Kern County Plein Air, 2018 •First Place, Fall Online Showcase, Oil Painters of America 2018 •Honorable Mention, Oil Painters of America National Show, 2018 •Best of Show, Kern County Plein Air, 2017 •Second
