"There's nothing new under the sun," said the wise man.

The drawings of the old masters prove this.

The conditions of life have changed, but the human condition has not.

The Old Master’s drawings are the best teachers, examples of great resolve. They have it all: composition, line, tone, mood, brevity, and taste. All we have to do is come and feast.

One marvel is common to all of them: the artists made drawings for themselves, never intending for anyone to see them.

Consider how this affects your relationship with your drawing practice.

From the beginning of time, artists gazed, copied, and learned from the earlier masters. We are fortunate to have such easy access to a vast number of masterpieces today.
