This three-week workshop concentrates on the Acari associated with soil and litter. Week one will be devoted to Mesostigmata and Endeostigmata, the second week to Oribatida, and the third week to Prostigmata. The main emphasis will be on identification and systematics of both adults and immatures, but this course will have a strong secondary emphasis on ecology and life-history.

  • The Acarology Summer Program has limited funds available for financial assistance due to the generosity of the Taylor & Francis Group on behalf of the International Journal of Acarology. Funds are reserved for graduate students and international participants in the form of partial tuition and housing waivers. Travel or per diem funds are not available.
  • The financial aid scholarships are awarded based on financial need of the participant. To apply for one of the financial aid scholarships below, please send the following to acari@uark.edu. The deadline for application is April 15, 2020, although applications will be evaluated as they arrive and some scholarships may be awarded early.
  • • A written statement by the applicant addressing both need and on how the workshop will augment your career.
  • • An e-mail by the applicant's advisor or supervisor addressing the scholarly potential of the applicant in acarology and his/her financial need.
