Casein paint is a milk protein based paint that generally dries to a matte finish. It is similar to gouache in that it is reworkable, but becomes impervious to water over time.



In this course we will experiment with casein using a limited palette. The subject matter is open and students may work representationally or abstractly. The main objective being, to come to an understanding of the various working properties of the medium.



You may bring whatever imagery you would like to use to create your painting; sketchbook, drawings, photos or a personal object. Basic composition, color, and rendering of form will also be addressed, as needed.
