Over the course of four intensive days working from portrait models and your own self-portrait, learn the essential techniques and concepts of line, value, volume, structure, and composition in rendering complex portraits. Explore the patterns and proportions of the facial structure, especially the planes of the skull, and learn to construct the features one-at-a-time, with special attention paid to the eyes. Through demonstrations and hands-on practice you will learn working methods that are clear and flexible, designed to increase perceptual observation, problem-solving skills, and technical application.
