Gain technical mastery and intuitive understanding on depicting the human form. Working from quick gesture drawings to longer, more considered poses, you will learn proportion and anatomy; use light and shade to depict volume; and line and tone to describe planar changes in the body.

  • Drawing board 18” x 24?
  • Strathmore 500 series white charcoal drawing pad 18” x 24? (Make sure that it’s white, people have been getting the assorted tints by mistake)
  • Rough Newsprint 18” x 24” (to pad your drawing paper, and for gestures)
  • Kneaded eraser
  • White pencil eraser
  • General’s Charcoal pencils (several HB’s one 2B)
  • Blending Stumps (not the spiral wound ones)
  • Willow Charcoal (Med. Sticks 5-6 mm)
  • Chamois
  • Small Snap knife from hardware store
  • Sandpaper (120 to 150 grit sandpaper)
  • 2 bull dog clips
  • Wooden skewer (for sighting and measuring)
