Learn to capture the details of nature in watercolor. Students will learn the basic techniques of watercolor starting with tonal sketches in pencil, then using masking fluid and wet-on-dry techniques to create layers of transparent color. We will explore different compositions and strategies for choosing subject matter by spending a half-day sketching in the nearby Volunteer Park. Focusing on the botanical and geological features in nature, this class will teach students to paint in watercolor using refined details and unique compositions.
