This fundamental drawing class gives you the basic skills, practice, and confidence to visually interpret, and draw the world around you using a variety of black and white media. In the first 10 sessions working from inspiring still life set ups you study accurate drawing, the rendering of 3-dimensional form using light and shadow, mark making techniques, and perspective. In the second half you apply what you have learned to an intensive study of the head and features, sketching from life models and completing one multiple-session finished drawing, bringing together portrait, still life, and the basics of composition into one dynamic and successful image. This class is followed Winter and Spring Quarters by Foundation Figure Drawing II, and Figure Drawing In Interiors. Homework required.
