Painting landscapes in watercolor can be an exhilarating process by using washes, glazes, spatters and several techniques to create trees, sky, landmass and water in variety of ways. Students will learn the application of light and dark, warm and cool and transparent and opaque colors to achieve beautiful results in watercolor.

  • Paper
  • • Watercolor Paper Block, 140lb (300gsm), at least 10x14”, Cold Pressed
  • • Drawing pad(same size as WC block), pencil/charcoal, erasers, pencil sharpner - for sketches and research and studies
  • Paint
  • Ultramarine blue, Phthalo/Prussian blue, scarlet/vermilion, Payne’s gray, Hansa/Cad yellow, Phthalo/viridian green, olive green, Yellow ochre, purple/violet, Alizarin Crimson, Burnt Sienna
  • Other reds, yellows, greens, blues, violets are always good to have but not required.
  • Palette
  • A large one with many wells and large mixing areas, the dinky little ones don’t work
  • Brushes
  • Flats, 1”, ½”, 3/8”, 1/4”
  • Rounds various sizes
  • This is the minimum, Additional brushes are good to have
