If you want to learn how to paint different matte surfaces in a still life, this workshop is for you. Students will learn to paint ceramics and different fabrics as the class progresses. We will start with a master copy in the beginning of the class and work up to painting interesting still lives from life.

  • Paper/Canvas/Sculpting Material
  • 9x12" Canson canvas paper pads (these are for making color charts only)
  • Paint/Color/Dry media
  • Bring what you have and chances are that you have enough for this workshop. If you are beginning, buy professional-grade only - Daniel Smith, Gamblin, Sennelier, Utrecht, Winsor & Newton, Rembrandt and Holbein are all suitable.
  • Titanium white
  • Yellow ochre
  • Burnt sienna
  • Ultramarine blue
  • Cadmium yellow medium
  • Lemon yellow
  • Cadmium red medium
  • Alizarin Crimson
  • Cadmium Orange
  • Cobalt blue
  • Prussian blue
  • Sap green
  • Viridian
  • Permanent green light
  • Brush/Pencils/Sculpting tools
  • Palette knife for mixing (blade should be at lease one inch and bendable at the mid section
  • Bring the brushes you have and chances are that they are enough. If you have no brushes, then get a couple small synthetic brushes in the size below
  • #4, #8 filberts
  • Miscellaneous
  • Gamsol (school provide this, no need to buy your own)
  • Paper towels (Viva or the auto one that's blue)
  • Small plastic garbage bag
  • Palette cup for gamsol
  • Disposable palette pad, wood or glass palette
