Explore a variety of effects that ink can give in a drawing - from soft atmospheric illusions of light and space, to bold textural renderings of form. Working form a model each day students will study the figure in its environment, first using slow studies in ink wash, then work on rendering the subtleties of the figure with pen and ink.
Spring quarter 2020 classes will be held online.

  • - Sketchbook
  • - 12x9” or larger hot pressed water color block (or multiple individual sheets)
  • - 2H graphite pencil
  • Easel or table top
  • Paper towels
  • • microphone and camera enabled computer
  • • ipad or smart tablet
  • • smart phone (android or IOS)
  • • Strong internet connection
  • Excited Attitude!
  • - Black India ink
  • - Erasures (kneaded and white gum)
  • - Nib pen with varied tip sizes (fine, mapping, etc)
  • - Water color brushes (2-3 multiple sizes)
  • - Artist’s tape
  • - 2-3 cups (yogurt cups or the like)
