In a step-by-step process, learn the methods of oil painting while exploring the still-life genre. Addressing the foundations of value, warm and cool relationships, and color, Aron Hart will teach methods for self-correction and problem solving.

  • Brushes: You can bring in your favorite brushes to work with, but in case you need to purchase some here is what I suggest to start with.
  • - 2 each of #2, 4, 6, & 8 filbert bristle brushes
  • - 1 each of #2, 4 & 6 filbert synthetic brushes
  • - 1 each of #4 or #6 round synthetic brushes*
  • *A very good round is the #4 Escoda Modernisia
  • Sketch pad and pencil
  • Palette (glass or wooden, be sure the wooden palette is sealed)
  • 2 trowel shaped palette knifes (Dick Blick style #44 is a good size)
  • Absorbent rags (old t-shirts are great)
  • Paper towels
  • Refined Linseed oil
  • OMS – Odorless Mineral Spirits (Gamblin Gamsol is approved at Gage)
  • Brush washer
  • 1 small jar with lid for medium
  • Masterson Sta-Wet Palette Seal (to store wet paints)
  • Mahl Stick (optional, but very handy)
  • White Acrylic Gesso (1 quart)
  • Black acrylic paint (small tube)
  • *Bull dog clips *(if you purchase canvas panels)
  • • Easel or table top
