Gaining the ability to work quickly and precisely is key to your development as a painter. Alla Prima painting with a timer forces you to simplify and focus on big shapes. This is the secret behind all great works. In this workshop I will provide frequent demos and break down the process of painting into clear and consecutive steps. Each student will receive a critique each session. We will work with a systematic technique and use a limited palette of 7 colors. We will focus on the 4 main aspects of a portrait: Proportion, Value, Color, and Edge. We will work with a combination of paintings, photos and/or models. Practicing this way will sharpen your observation and take your skill to a new level.
