Begin telling your story with pictures and words. Whether you already have an idea or wish to find and hone one, this is a place to start. Practice with story, structure, scale, imagery, techniques and mediums will be conducted with your skill level in mind. Graphic books can be created just fine with shapes, paper cut-outs, collage, photographs — let’s meet you and your story at your current artistic skill level in order to get you unstuck and move forward! Since communicating your vision and tale is our goal, exercises and group assignments will be class-wide or tailored to your project.

  • Drawing tablets at least 9x12"
  • -- 1 less expensive for sketches
  • -- 1 of quality for your planned medium of use
  • Drawing pencil 2b or yellow pencil
  • Sharpener
  • 1 kneaded eraser
  • Your medium of choice: water base, markers, colored pencils, collage, etc. (you can decide this later!)
  • Story idea/concept
  • Printed images to work from if you need them. We can also draw from our phones.
