Live from his studio in Florida, Charles Miano will explain and demonstrate his tried and true methods for creating inspired Portrait Drawings in Red Chalk, in this in-depth, comprehensive, content-rich workshop. Artists will strengthen their ability to quickly represent the spirit of the model. Many fundamental principles will be demonstrated and practiced, such as learning to capture the design, gesture, proportion, structure, anatomy and form. Participants can expect to learn the Miano Method of building a portrait form the Design to the Finished piece.

- Charles will meet with the class for the first few hours of the workshop for lecture and demos. The group will break for lunch and work on their projects. The instructor will be available for questions throughout the afternoon. Group and individual critiques will be organized by the instructor.

- • Canson Mi-Tientes Pastel Paper – Pearl, Ivory, Cream, Oyster or other preferred

- • Smooth Newsprint, 18x 24” for practice

- • Utility knife and sandpaper paddle (120 grit)- for sharpening
