This is a great class for beginners as well as more advanced students. You will learn how to set up a still life with the composition of your drawing in mind. Then you will learn how to block in the objects while measuring for accuracy, and finally you will learn techniques for shading that will make your drawing sparkle! You will receive plenty of individual instruction and time for all your questions, instructor demonstrations, weekly critiques, and digitally annotated images of your work with suggestions on how to improve.

  • 1 drawing pad - 18” x 24” Strathmore 400 Series recommended
  • 1 news print pad 18? x 24?
  • 1 sketch book – 12?x9? or larger
  • 5 graphite drawing pencils – 2H, 2B, 4B, 6B, 8B (Woodless graphite is suggested but not required)
  • 3 sticks vine charcoal – soft
  • 1 white plastic eraser
  • 1 precise point pen
  • 1 kneaded eraser
  • 1 pencil sharpener
  • 1 pencil bag
  • 1 drawing clip board 23”x26”
  • 1 roll of 18” glassine
