Learn to paint the human figure while exploring both traditional and contemporary methods of painting with acrylics. Students will develop original portrait, self-portrait, and nude figure compositions and discover techniques for capturing a model’s likeness with accuracy and explore expressive approaches to mark-making and color. Color theory, mixing and blending flesh tones, glazing, and basic design principles will all be presented through live demonstrations, individual critiques, and a series of lectures designed to equip students with essential knowledge and skills for imbuing their works with a dynamic sense of light, form, color, texture, and atmosphere. This class is ideal for first-time painter as well as those with prior experience.
