Explore the richness of acrylic painting and the still-life genre in this introductory course taught by Nicholas Enevoldsen, an alumnus and former principal instructor of the Florence Academy of Art in Florence, Italy. Students will develop three original still-life paintings and engage in various paint mixing and compositional exercises, progressing from monochrome value and full color palettes in a realistic style, to expressive color and mark-making approaches reflective of personal artistic vision. Color theory and mixing strategies, blending, glazing techniques, mark-making, and basic principles of design will all be presented through demonstrations, individual critiques, and a series of lectures designed to equip students with the essential knowledge and skills for imbuing their work with a dynamic sense of light, form, color, texture, and atmosphere. This class is ideal for first-time painter as well as those with prior experience.
